Vajen-Bader Smoke Protector

This Jules Vern style creation is an 1870s rescue helmet. The eyes lenses are Mica to protect the wearer from heat and each eye has a windshield wiper that is spun manually. There is a whistle to signal for help. The most important feature on this mask is the portable air tank, valve and gauge on the back. This is considered the first helmet with its own air supply. Before this a rescue needed a long hose and bellows.
