Super Rare 1880s Spoon Top Conformatore
This is a wonderful example of 1800s inventiveness. We believe this is American made and is signed and dated 1888. This is only the second example we have ever found. We will only sell this because the other head sizer is in our museum collection already. It can copy the shape of a head and lock in place to transfer the pattern for a hat maker. In the 19th century this type of device was considered a baldness cure. It was thought that anything restricting blood flow to the scalp could cause baldness... even an ill-fitting hat. Its all original showing a nice aged patina. Wooden head not included and for display only. This is one of the objects from the Radio Guy collection that inspired the Dennis Manarchy's Award winning series and book "METAL"... Was $3200... Now on SALE at $2400
