We have always considered and collected these commercial masks and helmets as industries tribal art. Examples can be elegant in their simplicity or bazaar and complex. They are always unique, suprising and filled with personality.
Important 1984 Utah/MIT Dextrous Hand Robotic Prototype
This is one of two early examples of this ground breaking experimental robotic hand. Its known as the Dextrous Hand and was designed at MIT in Utah and built by Sarcos Inc. and is signed on the hand. Its an import piece of industrial and scientific history and is considered one of the stepping stones in the development of robotics. This is the business end of the robotic hand, arm and mechanics. It would require the dedicated computer and software to bring this to life. For its time is was quit important. Simply go on line and you will see all the interest this experiment generated, NASA included. I can’t even imagine the cost, time and energy it took to develop and build this complex device… 24x48x10″… $6000
