Draeger Mine Rescue Mask
This apparatus was devised in 1903 by the Draeger Company of Germany. These breathing devices and other safety equipment of the time grew so popular in the mine rescue business that the word “Draegermen” became a synonym for an underground rescue worker. The company, which still exists today, claims to have manufactured 2 million gas masks for the German Armed Forces during WWI.
