We have always considered and collected these commercial masks and helmets as industries tribal art. Examples can be elegant in their simplicity or bazaar and complex. They are always unique, suprising and filled with personality.
Collection of 1800s Fire Fighters Badges
There are 2 wood and glass frames that must be an early firefighters lifetime collection. I’m guessing these were commemorative convention badges. Most are from New York and the surrounding areas. I love the celluloid buttons showing horse drawn equipment and early fire hats. You just don’t find collections like this outside museums. There are 30 pieces in all and in great condition… 2 frames 18″x 33″… $2400 for the pair
