M4 Leather WWII Horse Gas Mask

M4 US Government Army Issue World War II, vintage 1941-1942 Horse Gas Masks are very scarce. Due to the large size, most were discarded after the war. Occasionally, one will pop up, but most are incomplete or in poor condition. The M4 Horse Gas Mask has 2 large filter canisters, one placed on each shoulder of the horse. It has a chest mounted pack, and a rubber mask for the horse’s muzzle. Flexible hoses run between the components, and leather straps keep everything secure to the horse. Horses (Cavalry) and Pack Mules were not as common in WWII as they were in WWI, making the Horse Gas Mask all the more rare. If you are a serious gas mask collector, consider the chance of finding another M4 Horse gas mask. Included is the signed canvas accessory bag and display horse head and horse goggles. 1936 Draeger “O” Mask

This unique framed porthole mask was made by Draeger in Germany 1936. It was a simple and elegant design in a natural leather and mainly used for industrial purposes. Note the manual and central windshield wiper knob on the round glass. The wiper was used to clear condensation inside the glass.

Rare Early Siebe Gorman Smoke Rescue Mask

This classic English leather mask was manufactured in 1860s by Siebe Gorman & Co LTD. This mask used a long hose with bellows. The firefighter would don the leather mask, while a second firefighter would provide air by operating the foot operated bellows. Signals on the hose by the wearer… 1 tug meant “more air”, 2 tugs “less air” and 3 meant “HELP”. This example is signed but different than any example we have ever found. The shape and details are Sebe-Gorman but instead of the signature barn door windows this has a nose and 2 round eyes. There is a Muppet look to it.

This is an early tanker helmet with the reinforced protective crown. I’m not sure about the goggles… They could be for a pilot. They display very well together.

English Copper Wide View Smoke Rescue Helmet

This unique helmet was found in London. It’s unsigned and we have never found another example. It is one of my favorite helmets with its wrap around Mica windows and durby dome.

1910 – Italian Foundry Workers Helmet

This is a unique helmet for close furnace work. The body is copper and brass with Mica windows. There is also pipes that run around inside the helmet and exit through the back and connect to an air supply. We have never found another example of this rare helmet… $4500

Eveready Smoke and Ammonia Helmet

This is a rare one that has its own air supply just like a diving mask. I’m guessing this dates to the 1870s when other contained air supply designs first appeared. The eyes are Mica. WWI French Knights Armor Visor Helmet

This is an original WWI Adrain helmet with a hand-made experimental visor.

This is a extremely rare officers prototype or custom made “Private Purchase” steel combat helmet. It may be the only example existing. It features a protective visor with a Knights armor look.
