Important 1830s Furstenberger Lamp – 33″ Tall
The Scientist Furstenberger experimented and created what is considered the first gas lamp. This original hand blown example housed a reaction of zinc metal and sulfuric acid... This produced a flammable hydrogen gas. When the valve on top of the lower container was opened, a jet of hydrogen gas was released and burst into flame, catalyzed by platinum metal. This is one of the earliest examples we have ever seen... $2400
