Lifesize Articulating X-Ray Dummy, Cold War Icon
In 1961 this mannequin was featured in a Life Magazine cover story. After Khrushchev scared the world by setting off a hydrogen bomb 1n 1961 the US wanted to know its long term effects. This model was then handmade for testing by the Alderson Research Labs. I can't even imagine what the cost was. This articulating dummy contains a real skeleton. That said, considering its history I wanted to know if the dummy was safe. We had experts from the local nuclear plant test it. They even took bone fragments for their sensitive machines. We received a five page report telling us it was clean. It's a striking and beautiful piece of history that has a look you can't duplicate. We had a custom-made museum quality display stand created... $16500
