6 Foot Museum Model of a Flying Beetle
What may not be obvious at first is the scale of this striking museum display. The model has a wing span that is almost 6 foot across. Its a 20X scale Lucanus Cervus flying beetle that is amazingly accurate. You can even see the natural brush hair at all the joints. This example was hand made by Lorenzo Possenti. In Italy he is considered a "national treasure" and is well known to museums. It is very rare to see one of his pieces outside of a museum. His hand painted models have been on display all over Asia and Europe including the Museum of Natural History in both Vienna and Milano and the Oxford University Museum. We had a custom iron display stand made to hold the model in dramatic flying position...$8200
