1932 Study For Post Office Mural – Listed Artist

This was a study for a Mural for the Pennsylvania Post Office in 1932. This listed artist is James Howard Lams (1897 - 1964). The painting oil on board and titled " All Things Postal Pa". John Howard Lams was active and lived in Pennsylvania and Ohio. John Lams is well known for landscape, genre, figure and still life. His works are in the collection of the National Gallery of Art. The painting came out of a collection in Connecticut and was originally purchased from the artists family. The painting shows the post office delivering coast to coast... by train, air and truck. there are 3 heroic figures... Postmen, Woman and Pilot all centered with the Key Stone State Plaque behind them. There is even an old wagon on the mountain for history, a train crossing a canyon and planes taking off and landing. The subject and color has a WPA feel to it.... 58" x 37" framed...$3200
