1930s GE Bandy Advertising Doll

This is an impressive 15.5" early wooden jointed and composition Band Leader advertising doll that dates to the 1930s. It was used as a display figure holding cards in his slotted hands announcing related sales and special offers. Categorized as a doll as well as an advertising piece, this GE Bandy wood and composition jointed figure was made by the Cameo Doll Co. located in Port Allegheny, Pa. Founded by doll designer Joseph Kallus, the factory produced similar collectable dolls including Betty Boop, Pinocchio, Popeye, Felix the Cat and Howdy Doody from 1922 to 1970.
